Book Review

The Witch of Portobello The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho

My review

rating: 2 of 5 stars
This is the third Paulo Coelho book I’ve read, and I just wasn’t as impressed as I was with The Zahir or Veronika Decides to Die.

The technique Coelho used to reveal the story — having interviews with the people surrounding the main character, rather than telling the story from her point of view — was very interesting, and definitely revealed her (Athena) as a complicated, multi-faceted person.

There were also parts of Athena’s discovery of her own spirtual awakening that I could identify with, but in the end I just really couldn’t get into this story as much as I had hoped, given my previous experience with Coelho.

Don’t think I’ll bother reading this one again.
